Application:

Le florfénicol est un dérivé monofluoré de la méthicilline synthétisé artificiellement, de formule moléculaire C12H14Cl2FNO4S. C'est une poudre cristalline blanche ou blanc cassé, inodore et extrêmement légèrement soluble dans l'eau et le chloroforme, légèrement soluble dans l'acide acétique et soluble dans le méthanol et l'éthanol. Il s’agit d’un nouveau médicament antibactérien à large spectre à base de chloramphénicol destiné à un usage vétérinaire, développé avec succès à la fin des années 1980.
